Hello Forum,

I am looking for wood to carve or sculpt. I have had limited experience with stone and clay and would like to try my hand at wood. I have heard that Lime is the best for hand carving. Do any one know different? I am looking to buy some blocks or cuts. Please excuse the language as I an new to all this but hopefully not for long.

regards

Ken

Most woods can be used for carving or sculpture. Lime is very good but a tad featureless. Excellant if crisp detail is required. Most hardwoods and many softwoods can be used. Depends what you want to do
