Newsletter  - June 2003   -  Issue No.7

Welcome to this edition of the Newsletter for the Lisnavagh Timber Project (LTP)

Our current supplies & stock

Current stock includes oak, ash, elm, beech, spalted beech (very limited), elm, wych elm, lime, birch, sycamore, pine and larch.

We are sawmilling NEXT WEEK. About 45 tonnes of fully traceable logs have been registered on our database, including Ash, Beech, Western Red Cedar, Spanish/Sweet Chestnut, Crab Apple, Lawson's Cypress, Elm, Wych Elm, Douglas Fir, Larch, Lime, Oak (pedunculate & sessile), and Scot's Pine.

This is a 40% increase on last year's intake.

If you have any special requests, please let us know by midday, this Monday (23rd June).

Current stock amounts to 1800 cu ft. This will increase to about 2,500 cu ft following sawing next week.

A summary of stock and price list are now available, upon request. (Click here)

To date, we have relied upon our own supplies of fallen, windblown, dead or dangerous trees entirely from Lisnavagh. This alone has provided the Lisnavagh Timber Project with over 120 tonnes of valuable, traceable, hardwood timber in less than three years.

LTP can also source timber for clients from locations outside Lisnavagh (e.g. for volumes of timber that we do not have in stock). This is because we feel that every enquiry SHOULD result in a sale if at all possible, even it means several telephone calls to other suppliers.

As always, every plank of hardwood timber that comes off the sawbench is reference numbered, measured and catalogued on our highly comprehensive database.

This database is the key to the traceability of our timber and allows us to trace the timber in a piece of furniture back to the stump of the tree that it came from, along with a full history of why the tree was felled or why it came down, and what measures were taken to replace the tree. Photographs of the tree itself are now usually available.

Sales & Marketing

Enquiries & Sales have shown significant increases in 2003.

Month on month we are seeing more and more sales to existing and new customers.

Our existing customers keep coming back to us.

Our web site and word-of-mouth continue to bring in new customers.

A mailshot at the beginning of the year to existing customers brought a notable surge in sales.

We have leaflets and fliers explaining the Lisnavagh Timber Project. We are now working on a CD-ROM video presentation.

If you would like to obtain some hard copy information on the Lisnavagh Timber Project, please contact William Bunbury. (See below).
